Life vs Death (George Carlin's Football vs Baseball parody)

Kathy Prior tells us why being alive rules and being dead sucks!

I’d like to talk a little bit about being alive and being dead. Starting with being alive, everyone here knows what it’s like and it’s being human that’s unique. There are many great opportunities to love others and learn new things and discover who we are. But a lot of the time, life can be a real b***h. Most animals like ants, dogs, cats, birds etc. they search for food and do their thing without a care in the world. Although they run from predators, care for their young and search for food, they don’t really worry about when they’re going to die. But we humans are immersed in fear and anxiety, and we fight over many little things. We somehow feel that because someone looks or acts different, that they’re a threat to us. We are always focused on not only the basic survival needs, but also on making enough money and getting married and being accepted by others around us. Because back in the ancient days, not being accepted into the tribe meant abandonment and death. We not only avoid topics of death, we fight each other over what we think death is like. Is there Heaven and Hell? Do we go into nonexistence when it’s over? Do we see our loved ones again? No one really knows. But let’s say we go with spiritual logic and say there is life after death. Let’s say that dead people aren’t really dead, but they are actually godly electromagnetic souls who roam the universe in search for love and growth throughout lifetimes. Pretty bizarre concept, right?

Now being alive and being dead are parallels, two sides of one existence. Both are very different. *Mundane voice* Being alive means moving in a body with organs and having a complex brain that produces various thoughts and interacting with other living things on Earth.

*Spooky voice* Being dead means you’re somewhere else, somehow.

*Mundane voice* When you’re alive, you live on Earth in a house or apartment, and you go to buildings and the same route every day. You remain in one place generally and certainly on one planet for the majority of us.

*Spooky voice* When you’re dead, you can be in many different places at the same time, including the universe.

*Mundane voice* Becoming alive involves a lengthy review process in the cosmos. As a soul, you choose what body you’d like to inhabit, the person you will become and where you’ll live, plus the good or bad things that are likely to happen to you like poverty or abuse or maybe you’ll get through all that and become lucky enough to become rich. You then go over your plan with spirit guides, a council and God. Going through all your previous lives and your recent lives, looking at Akashic Record paperwork and filling out soul contracts and stuff. Not to mention going through world simulation training. If God accepts your request, you then fall through a tunnel, lose your powers, and get all your memories erased so you can have a fresh start. You soon forget your own name and realize that after going through all that, you are now a helpless baby going through traumatic birth! Is it worth it?

*Spooky voice* Becoming dead can happen at any time! It could happen in the blink of an eye, or it can be long and drawn out. Just when you think your mission on Earth is not finished, God calls you and says, “Hey come back home, did you learn anything?” After agonizing pain and when you think you can’t handle it…bam! You’re suddenly immortal! Memories thrown at you at lightning speed! Then you realize your failed in your mission on Earth. And will have to try again later. “But, I can’t be…” “Like you have a f**king choice in the matter!”

*Mundane somber voice* When your dead, you may have a Near Life Experience, where you’re this close to remembering how delicious Earth food tasted like. Or how good that sexual fling felt in high school. You wish you could taste food, but now realize that it’s just an energy prop. (No beer to fully enjoy here.) You realize that knowing everything is boring and long for those nostalgic “childhood” Earth moments.

*Spooky voice* When you’re alive, you may have a Near Death Experience, where you learn about your entire life and all the mistakes you made. You may be trapped in a hell of your own making. And just when you are reunited with those you love, a spirit guide shoves you back into your unpleasant body and being like, “Finish your f**king mission, you don’t belong here yet!” (“Damn it, no one wants to believe my message! Wake up, people!”)

*Mundane voice* Being alive means wanting to preserve your body to be as young as possible, even when you begin to age and fall apart. Looking your best is paramount and if you don’t, you’ll be rejected by potential bosses, partners, parents, friends, etc.

*Spooky voice* Being dead means looking at your former body and thinking, “Hey, I’m ageless and free! I don’t need that thing anymore!”

*High cheerful voice* The dead are concerned with harmony, music, connection, evolution, and merging with God.

*Low somber voice* The living are concerned with power, conflict, appearance, safety, being liked, money, love, sex, worries, competition, wars, being the best and having the illusion they are separate from everything. People arguing over who is God and whose religion is the best.

*Spooky voice* In the spirit world, everyone knows who you are and knows what’s best for you, even authority figures.

*Mundane voice* In the physical world, everyone hides their true selves from everyone. There are language barriers, cultural barriers, misunderstandings, manipulation and untrustworthy authority figures.

*High cheerful voice* When you’re dead, you have the option to reincarnate or stay in the spirit world.

*Low somber voice* When you’re alive, you only have one life to live and you have no choice but to live in the illusion.

*Low somber voice* Physical worlds have diseases, wars, accidents, beauty, nature, sunsets, oceans, and matter everywhere.

*High cheerful voice* Spiritual worlds have color, energy, music, love, and beautiful light!

*High cheerful voice* Being dead means you are essentially an energy god. You can teleport, read people’s minds and have knowledge about all your past life selves that make up who you are. You also can communicate with loved ones to make amends and ask for forgiveness.

*Low somber voice* Being alive means you don’t know who the f**k you are or what you’re supposed to do. And if you break your leg or get sick or lose your memory, sucks for you.

*Mundane voice* Being alive means being constrained by time, days, months, years.

*Spooky voice* Being dead means that time is bullshit.

*High cheerful voice* In the spirit world, 95% of the time, souls of every species (even aliens) work harmoniously together in their advanced utopian society. Dark souls can take their time and cross over when they’re ready.

*Low somber voice* In the physical world, someone can shoot you just by you looking at them the wrong way. You can go from rich to poor in an instant. Dark human living souls can either get away with their crimes, thus harming more souls, or be arrested and put in jail for life.

And finally, the objectives are very different. *Low somber voice* Being alive means being born as a helpless baby, learning right from wrong by parents, teachers, peers, and society. You learn that you’ll either go to heaven or hell or you’ll cease to exist completely, so you better stay healthy and make babies have a job and have enough money to fit into your society and pay your bills. Or if you live in poverty, try not to starve, and don’t put yourself in danger from other a**holes. And then, all too soon, you’re met with illness, pain and agony and then it goes black.

*High cheerful voice* Being dead means improving yourself, merging with God’s Light and basking in eternal love!
