Fanfic -The Saiyan-Tuffle War (here be more)

Far away across the galaxy, on a dark pink planet known as Planet Plant, there lived two vastly different alien races. The race native to the planet consisted of peaceful miniature human-like beings, who had evolved at a fast rate and used science and technology to their advantage. They prospered in their utopian-like city and kept to themselves. These people were known as the Tuffles. On the contrary, the other race did not originally reside, but rather, they arrived onto the planet in white space pods, their vehicles crashing down like meteors onto the ground, the bridges, and the buildings. These people had spiky black hair, wore brown loincloths like cavemen and had monkeylike tails. Their thirst for food nearly matched their thirst for battle, for these were the Saiyans.

The cultures weren’t too different at one point in history. In fact, there was a time when the Tuffles had welcomed the foreign warriors with open arms into their borders in the hopes of expanding their society further. Though it was partially due to their docile natures, it was mostly a way for the Tuffles to study the behavior of the Saiyans.

Unfortunately, the peace did not last for long. Tension built up between the two cultures. While the Tuffles established order under a monarchy, the Saiyan tribes fought each other over food, land, and any resource they could obtain. The thrill of fighting and a greediness was in their blood. From the Tuffles’ standpoint, the Saiyans were a bunch of wild, primal criminals who disrupted their ways of life. How could the scientists, teachers, inventors, and the royal officials themselves fully manage their society when vandalism, violence, and viciousness were at an all- time high since the Saiyans’ arrival? A grocery store would be stripped clean one day, and zeni from a bank would be robbed the next. If a soldier or reckless civilian got too close to a Saiyan, they would leave with a black eye and a cut up lip at best, death at the worst. It made dealing with the Tuffle criminals, drug addicts, and the underclass a piece of fruitcake. With them around, the economy, and the overall structure of their society would crumble to dust. “Think of the civilians and children!” posters and advertisements would say. Next to a rugged Saiyan man on a billboard, words in red letters read: “For every zeni spent on providing for Saiyans, life-saving medicine for the ill is not produced.” Other Tuffles speculated that the Saiyans carried diseases from their home planet that had killed of the early Plantians who came before the Tuffles.

The Saiyans’ view of the Tuffles was quite a different story. Parents and elders would tell scary stories to their children by firelight after a long day of hunting and gathering. They would speak of the Tuffle city as a mirage in a dessert. From the outside, it looked like paradise, and indeed it was. In the harsh climate of scorching summers, intense storms, and bitter winters, only the Tuffles had the luxuries of air conditioning, running water, comfortable beds, food, jewels, and high tech weapons. Almost every night, the Saiyan king Vegeta and his allies longed to possess the variety of riches in the Tuffle King’s palace. If they could access the palace and the military bases, and take the rival king down, then the rest of the Tuffles would soon follow. It would be much better than living in rock cave dwellings that offered little protection from the howling winds and elements.

The Saiyans learned not to be fooled by outside appearances, for the glamorous Tuffle exterior hid dark secrets. Any Saiyan lucky (or unlucky) to live among the Tuffles would commonly face discrimination on a day to day basis. “Savage,” “Monkeys,” “Primal beasts” were some of the derogatory insults the Tuffles threw at them whenever they met on the street, in the workplace, or even in quiet neighborhoods. Some of the Saiyans shrugged them off. Many of them landed hard punches and insults of their own, resulting in imprisonment. The Saiyans were treated like second class citizens, denied opportunities for the best jobs and quality housing. Being forced to do garbage pickup, construction, housekeeping, farming, and other menial jobs left little time for fighting and freedom. The unfortunate Saiyans who crossed too many boundaries were sent to labor camps on the outskirts of the city. In addition, the media never told of experimentations on Saiyans behind the scenes, or the fact that the majority of them were banished to the desert Outlands by the Tuffle King without question.

In a sense, the remaining Saiyans who weren’t influenced by the societal “norms” were sent to die.

However, Saiyans do not perish that easily. They would never surrender themselves to forces beyond their control. To them, the way to solve problems was to face them head on. When negotiations between two rulers fail and both races do not become accepting of each other’s differences, protest and war could be the only options left.

Indeed, it would not be long until a war between them would occur…and it did. The war lasted for a brutal ten years, both sides in a stalemate. The Saiyans were far stronger than the Tuffles, but the Tuffles made up for their lack of strength by their numbers and technology. Every time the Saiyans tried to push forward, the Tuffles would only push them back to the Outlands. It would seem that the cycle would continue on forever.

Yet another legend would make itself known. It was said at every hundred years, a full moon would appear in the sky. When Saiyans looked at it, it would trigger a drastic transformation from man to beast. In their Great Ape forms, the Saiyans would give in to their instincts and destroy everything around them without self-restraint. In a single night, the Saiyans wiped out the Tuffle civilization, leaving nothing but ruins left. The Saiyans searched the area and took remaining technology they considered useful and made it their own. This included the scouters that the Tuffles had worn to analyze power levels. Victory was declared by King Vegeta and a Saiyan kingdom was created.
It wasn’t long until the Saiyans met their end at the hands of Lord Frieza and his power-hungry lizard-like race.
