How the Dazzlings got their name (fanfiction)

In another world far away, there was a high school like any other called Canterlot High. Inside the auditorium, students and teachers gathered to watch a music competition. Originally, it was meant to be a fun event where the students could sing and perform in harmony. However, due to a strange circumstance, the event turned into a contest: the Battle of the Bands. Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna were the judges and they sat at the front, writing on clipboards.
Behind the curtain, there were a few students checking their instruments, practicing their lines or talking to one another. An intriguing group of girls were having a conversation. The first one was dressed in purple and wore a golden belt with a diamond in the center. She had thick curly orange hair that went down her back. She radiated confidence and power; there was no doubt that she was the leader. Another girl had purple skin and wore her purple and green hair in pigtails. She had white star pins in her hair and wore a belt with a star in the center. With her ripped up green jacket and grumpy demeanor, she was not the one to mess around with. The last girl was blue skinned and wore her blue stripped hair in a ponytail. She wore pink boots, a skirt and a magenta top to match. This girl was the joyful, friendly one of the bunch, but was not always the sharpest tool in the shed. All three wore jeweled red pendants around their necks.
Unbeknownst to many, these three girls were mer-mares, sirens from another world called Equestria. They did what sirens do best; lured sailors to their deaths with their beautiful songs and fed off of the negative energy of the pony citizens. For centuries, the sirens would sing their haunting songs and the ponies would argue and fight over anything they could think of. For a time, the sirens ruled the world and were adored as goddesses. Then, one pony went to put a stop to the chaos. He was not an ordinary pony however; he was a great white unicorn named Star Swirl the Bearded. He was the Merlin of Equestria, a great wizard and spell caster. With a mighty blast, he banished the three sirens and sent them to the human world.
Desperate for revenge, the sirens who were now humans sought to take over this world like they did in Equestria. If their plan worked, hopefully, they could find a way back to Equestria and blast the unicorn wizard to bits. The sisters lost their true forms, but they still had their magic gems. They were the ones who changed the rules of the music event. Companions became competitors, and now the performers were in to win. Adagio turned to listen to the show outside, then turned back to her sisters.
“Listen up, girls,” she said. “When it is our turn to go on stage, we will use our powers to make the crowd love us completely while also keeping the competition going. We still need to feed off more negative energy, but it should not be much of a problem.” The purple-haired girl, Aria sighed. “So you think this plan will work?” “I know it will work,” Adagio answered. “Unless you have any better ideas, both of you follow my lead and everything will be fine.” “Or my lead,” Aria muttered. “My lead” said Adagio grabbing Aria’s jacket then letting go. “Haven’t we been through this already?” “Been through what?” asked the blue-haired girl. “We were not talking about you, Sonata” said Adagio. “Well can we get something to eat soon that is not negative energy?” “Now is not the time,” said Adagio. “Wait until after the show.” Sonata slumped her shoulders and started off into space.
Adagio suddenly thought of something. “Girls, I almost forgot. If we are going to be the best band in the contest, we must have a name for ourselves.” “Oh, I know!” said Sonata with a grin. “The Taco Trio!” “No Sonata, that is a stupid name for a band,” said Aria.  Sonata thought again and then jumped when she came up with another idea. “How about the siren sisters?” Sonata suggested. “Are you crazy?”  Adagio cried, trying to keep her voice down. “That would reveal our identity to the public!” “We could pick out an underwater monster name from Greek mythology,” said Aria. “I don’t think so,” said Adagio. “This band is about us, so I think we should make the name relative to us. Yes, we could use our names in it. Or better yet my name…”
“Why is everything always about you?” asked Aria. “Because I am the leader,” Adagio stated. “I have looked after you too for thousands of years, so it makes sense to name our band after me. I was thinking maybe the Dazzlers or something.” “That sounds cheesy,” replied Aria. “I prefer something awesome like… The Blazers!”  “Using a fiery word to describe sea creatures like us?” Adagio asked. “We need something less direct and more…subtle. Something that sounds entrancing, for the audience to admire.” They argued for a while until they heard someone coming up the steps.
“I’ve got it!” Sonata called, running back up the steps and holding a taco in her hand. “Um, how did you get that?” asked Aria.  “I ran back to the cafeteria and to my luck, I got one of the leftover tacos!  It is so good,” she said as she took a big bite. The two sisters were left wondering how Sonata could find tacos so easily. “You are supposed to be here with us, helping with the plan!” said Adagio. “It would have failed if we had to get up there and you were not there.” “But I don’t like negative energy very much, unless I am really hungry” said Sonata. “Ugh, just help us pick a name,” groaned Adagio. “We don’t have much time.” “I know,” Sonata exclaimed with a grin. “How about we call ourselves The Three Dusketeers!” Sonata was met with a face palm from Aria and Adagio shaking her head. “You know, like the three Musketeers except with my name in it?” “What kind of a name is that? That name would make us look like fools! We are not swords women, we are sirens! Stick to our theme!”

At last, Adagio reached a conclusion. “I have found the perfect name for us!” Adagio declared. “We shall be known as the Dazzlings! A great name like that will surely have the crowd at our feet!” “Ohh, that name sounds pretty!” exclaimed Sonata. “I like The Blazers so much better,” grumbled Aria. “I want to take charge for once!” “No, Aria! I am the one in charge. I am the one that moves our group forward unlike you who won’t stop complaining.” “Not to mention Sonata who is annoying all the time and messes everything up” added Aria glaring at Sonata. “For realizes?” she asked. “Your attitude is the worst!” “You are the worst, Sonata” said Aria. “Oh, yeah,” Sonata spoke up crossing her arms. “I think you’re—““Enough girls!” said Adagio, putting her hands on her hips. “I am sick and tired of you bickering over every little thing! Now let’s hurry up and choose a name before—“Celestia walked over and said, “Alright, girls! You are up! Have you chosen your stage name yet?” Adagio glared at Aria and she sighed. “Ok, Adagio, you win. The Dazzlings it is.” “Yay!” cheered Sonata. “Yes,” said Adagio to Celestia. “We are the Dazzlings.” Adagio sang a tune and Celestia’s eyes turned a glowing green. Green smoke traveled to Adagio’s gem that was now glowing red. “Wonderful name,” said a hypnotized Celestia. “I will introduce you three right away.” She walked back out as the green smoke disappeared. “Ladies and gentleman,” announced Celestia, holding a microphone. “Please give a warm welcome to our new performers, The Dazzlings!” She went back to her seat and sat down. “Let’s do this,” said Adagio. After taking the taco from Sonata, Adagio led the way onto the stage, her sisters following behind.
