New Age Myths

Myth: Souls plan poverty, rape, murder, suicide etc. for past life karma.

No soul would ever want to incarnate on Earth to do/experience something that is against its true nature. (Plus, this concept perpetuates the blaming the victim mentality: “They asked for it.”) Hate, murder, fear etc. are flawed self-driven human behaviors due to ego, environment, substances and/or upbringing. (For animals, it’s different because animals must eat prey to survive). Souls who did bad deeds will learn about them in their life review and either reincarnate to try again or help other humans on Earth who are struggling with similar challenges. Or for those who are not ready to learn their lessons in the life review, they will remain stuck until they’re ready to cross over.

Myth: You have to know your soul’s mission/life purpose.

No, you don’t! In fact, God and spirits won’t be disappointed if you don’t, because of the amnesia and the human mind. Love to yourself and others is all that matters for everyone…and the connections you form. Your soul lessons will reveal themselves along the way. Everyone will feel some regrets that they didn’t complete something during the life review, but that’s why souls can always try again! In a timeless world, there is no race to merge with God (Despite New Age books implying that it is!)

What if your life purpose is…not to know exactly what it is…because the all-knowing soul wants to briefly forget the knowledge just to see what happens? And when you do find out, it’ll all make sense? :0

Myth: Everyone has free will.

Souls have free will in the spirit world. However, the free will of people on Earth is far more limited. Although affluent people can make lots of choices and study, those living in poverty often have no choice but to focus solely on survival. Not to mention those who have trouble walking or thinking the way they want to. We have some free will, we have people from our soul groups we will meet, but bad things sometimes happen that we have no control over (accidents, disabilities etc.) It is up to our soul to learn from planned and unplanned events…because it is in incarnations that the soul (presumably) experiences the thrill of the unknown. If souls still evolve on the other side to get closer to God and paradoxically know all about the universe and other souls, it’d make more sense why they’d want to experience a state that is temporarily separate from the thoughts of everyone else…a break from union. Not everything is planned! We have every right to break away from parents/spouses who are abusive/neglectful, even if our optimistic souls chose them before birth. People need to learn lessons the hard way to move forward…plus all will be revealed in life reviews. Also, not everyone is destined to have a soulmate romantic partner!

Myth: Reincarnation is a punishment.

Reincarnation is as natural as birth and death. Alternatively to the view that we must reincarnate over and over again to make up for karma and it being a bad thing, it is a unique life experience that allows the soul to evolve, learn, and experience a new kind of creative freedom. Even though someone might reincarnate again to learn missed lessons, there are always good and bad things in every lifetime. And (presumably) the soul gets to choose who they will reincarnate into, whether that be a human, animal, plant, alien, or something else. Amnesia at birth is also completely natural and not evil. It is a gift in disguise that allows us to start anew in each lifetime. With no memory of our past lives and our lives as spirits, we can focus solely on our life on Earth, with creative freedom and new learning experiences…if we knew what was going to happen, there would be no point coming to Earth.

Myth: The human ego is bad.

The human ego and flaws are part of who we are. Being spiritual depends just as much on our human and material side as it does on our soul/spiritual side. Contrary to common thought, our body is not just a shell…we have a human personality that is merged with our soul (if we have one). I theorize that as we embrace ourselves and learn from our mistakes, our soul slowly reveals itself. Ego can be used for good or bad…there must be a balance between loving yourself and loving others. Pushing aside our ego and human self is not the answer…we must keep our human and Light Being selves in harmony…because our soul wanted to experience being human in the first place.

Myth: Humans are the center of the universe.

God loves all creatures the same: human, animal, plant, alien, star etc. Every living thing has a soul and those souls are on their own journeys and evolution. It is humans alone who have complete fear of death and hard life reviews.

Myth: God will judge us after death.

Alternatively, God is not a man who sends us to Heaven or Hell. God is a genderless light creator who made the universe. God-Source loves all of us unconditionally...even though there are consequences for bad actions we take. There is no hell, except those we create with our minds. Everything is neutral to God-Source because God-Source knows our complex souls. We judge ourselves in our life reviews and we judge others on Earth. After looking back on our lives, we will move on to make our amends. God knows that all of us will merge back to Him/Them at our own paces. Because of this, it does not matter what soul level we are at…we will feel God’s love after death and see our family members and that’s all that matters. (The labeling system in Journey of Souls felt wrong). Those who commit suicide are helped by their loved ones and they find out missed life opportunities in their life reviews. They are not punished but are given opportunities to help others and evolve in another life.
