The Enigma TNG "Monster Killer" - Zumba dance?

This morning December 3rd 2018, I was remembering the fun times I had doing exercise at my local Zumba class at college. "Monster Killer" was so catchy that I thought: "It deserves to be danced to."

Of course, I found other YouTubers (mostly men) who have already performed their own moves for the song (much better than anything I could ever do.) As good as their dances were, I noticed that many of the dance moves were "robotic" and consisted of fluid hand movements (and sometimes awesome foot work). In other words, I wanted a style that was unique and more fitting to the song's message.

I'll list some steps for my current experimentation. Turn up the volume to hear the music.







Part 1: Intro

(For the two high beats) Put your right foot forward and then back beside your other foot
Do this twice.

(For the two lower beats next) Put your left foot forward and then back beside your right foot.
Do this twice.

(For the next beat) Extend your right arm and your right foot to the right at the same time, then move it back into position

(For the second similar beat sound) do the same thing, this time with your left arm and left leg.

When the first beat sounds again, put your right foot forward and then back into position. Repeat four times.

Repeat the process of putting your left foot forward and back for the lower beats.

Repeat extending your right arm and right leg for the next beat, then do the same for the left.

Finish with putting your right foot forward and back two more times.





Part 2: Song

(“In my life”) Put your right foot forward and then back. Briefly point to yourself when stepping forward. When stepping back, make two circles in the air with your fingers.

(“I’m never gonna”) Cross your arms and hands as if doing the signal for “no/nothing”

(“run away”) Briefly run in place

(“no I”) point to yourself again and spread your legs apart

(“I’m gonna get them”) Close your legs and put both of your fists together

(“all the monsters”) curl your fingers of both hands like claws, stomping your right foot, then move your foot and leg back into place.

(“killing all the monsters”) shape your dominant hand, pointer finger forward into a gun/pistol shape.

When “monsters” is spoken, do the same claw gesture, stomping your left foot, then moving your foot and leg back into place.

(“Gonna be”) curl your hands so your fingers face you


 (a monster killer”) Stomp your right foot (legs close together) while doing the “monster” hand gestures. At “killer” use both hands, pointer finger forward to mimic guns. Do the same “monster gesture but stomp your left foot.


(“Save my life”) Step forward three times, while using your hands to pull an invisible rope


(“I’m never gonna”) Cross your arms and hands as if doing the signal for “no/nothing”

(“run away”) Briefly run in place

(“no I”) point to yourself again and spread your legs apart

(“I’m gonna get them”) Close your legs and put both of your fists together

(“all the monsters”) curl your fingers of both hands like claws, stomping your right foot, then move your foot and leg back into place.

Part 3: Dubstep


(Twice)  When the beat drops, jump with one foot and then the other, knee up, then move to one side, dancing with one foot twice. (right, left, right, right) Repeat the process the other way (left, right, left, left). Move your arm in the air in the same direction for each one. (right foot with right arm, left foot with left arm, right foot with right arm twice to the right. Same with the left.


With the four fast beats, quickly punch the air in front of you.


For the next beats and section, make robotic motion with your arms and legs in your choice of style.


When the five fast dubstep beats play, turn to the right or left side and quickly karate chop the air in front of you four times.
As the section ends, turn in a circle, arms forming a C.


When the next beats begin, circle your arms, hands in fists in front of you. Step to the right, right foot first, then left, then right. Briefly pause with your fist out. Continue the movement to the left, still circling your arms. Pause with your left fist out.

(Foot movements: right foot cross in front, left foot, right.

Left foot cross in front, right, left)


Next beats, with your hands on your hips, move your hips slowly from side to side four times and sway your legs a bit.


Make more robotic hand and head motions


For the next four high fast beats, karate chop the air, turn in a semi-circle


Next, sway from side to side, with your arms doing the wave in the air



Repeat the cycle for the second half:
